There are many different ways for you to successfully trace a landline. If you have caller ID on your phone then this will show the name and the phone number the person is calling you from. The only way this information would not show up is if the person called privately. In this case the called ID would show you private or unknown caller. If someone is calling your home phone and harassing you then you could talk to your local phone company. Depending upon the situation they could put a trace on your phone. This will enable the phone company to trace the phone call back to where the person is calling from. The downfall of this is the phone calls have to be received on regular bases and there will usually have to be a police report made. This shows the phone company that the calls are serious and needs to be handled immediately. Once the trace is in place and the phone company is able to track down the caller you will not be given the actual name of the person. All the information will be turned over to the police so they can proceed with any charges against the person. If neither of these options works for you then you can also hire a private investigator. The private investigator is sometimes able to come up with the information you are looking for when someone keeps calling you. There is one more option for getting the necessary information in order to identify the caller. If you have the name of the person you can conduct a people search. This will give you the address of the person, city and state and possibly the phone number if they have one in their name. If you only have the phone number of the person that keeps calling and you would like to know their name you could do a phone number lookup. It is simple to do you just type in the phone number and hit enter. Upon completion of the search you will see all names that are linked to the phone number. You will see the ages of all the people, all known addresses associated with the phone number and the city and state of where the phone number is located. You will also see if the person is a homeowner of the property that the phone number goes to and the phone company that is providing the service to the person. If they have a profile on facebook you will be shown that also. If you find they do have a facebook page just click the link that is there and now you will know what the person looks like that is harassing you. Depending upon the level of harassment you will now have all the necessary information to file a report with the local police station. Once the report is filed the police will look into the matter and take the necessary steps for handling the person properly.
